Workshop on the Constitutional requirements of Role of SEMs in Exercising Powers under section 107/151 Cr. PC for Special Executive Magistrates of Delhi.
Delhi Judicial Academy organized a Workshop on the “Constitutional requirements of Role of SEMs in Exercising Powers under section 107/151 Cr. PC for Special Executive Magistrates”.
Sh. Naveen Gupta, Special Secretary, DSLSA was invited as a resource person in the workshop at Delhi Judicial Academy, Dwarka, New Delhi on 19.09.2023 to deliver two sessions. He took two sessions on the topics “The Safeguards: Access to Legal Aid, Legal Service Authorities Act, 1987, Mandate of Legal Aid, Grant of Legal Aid to persons appearing before SEMs, Duties of a Remand Advocate, Practice Directions.” The topic was elaborated with the help of Power PowerPoint presentation. During the sessions, several queries of the participants related to the exercising of powers under section 107/151 Cr. P.C. were also answered.

Round Table Conference organized by NALSA
National Legal Services Authority organized a day long conference of Member Secretaries of all State Legal Services Authorities on 15th September, 2023 at Conference Hall, Rouse Avenue District Courts, New Delhi.
The said conference was chaired by Ms. S. S. Mann, Member Secretary, NALSA. Sh. Yajuvendra Singh, Director, NALSA welcomed all the dignitaries and began the conference with opening remarks. The Chairperson delivered keynote address for all sessions and discussed certain issues faced by Member Secretaries of SLSAs. Sh. Mukesh Kumar Gupta, Member Secretary, DSLSA and Sh. Naveen Gupta, Special Secretary, DSLSA also attended the said conference which consisted of different sessions to discuss several issues. The Chairperson also solved the queries raised by the Member Secretaries of SLSAs.

Programme UnleashShe: “Embracing Empowerment Together”
No nation can progress socially or economically if its women are left behind. If the women are not educated then the nation cannot progress and prosper. With a view to educate women about their Legal rights mentioned under the provisions of Legal Services Authority Act, 1987, Central-II DLSA in association with Mata Sundri College for Women (University of Delhi) organized a Programme “UnleashShe: “Embracing Empowent Together”. The progarmme consisted of a Panel discussion on “Women & Law: Why should women be legally empowered”?
Sh. Mukesh Kumar Gupta, Member Secretary, DSLSA was the Chief Guest of the Programme and appreciated this collaboration of Central II DLSA and Mata Sundri College for Women. He also highlighted the need for women to be legally empowered.
Ms. Geetanjli Goel, Special Judge (PC Act) (CBI), RADC was invited as the Guest of Honour who motivated and encouraged all the present with her words of wisdom. Sh. Abhinav Pandey, Secretary (Litigation), DSLSA was invited as the Special guest.
Ms. Poonam Mendiratta, Advocate, Supreme Court of India was the Speaker in the said programme, who apprised the attendees about the laws related to women.

Consultation Meet for Multi Stakeholders on Effective Implementation of POCSO Act
National Institute of Public Cooperation & Child Development (NIPCCD) under the aegis of Ministry of Women and Child Development, government of India organized a consultation meet for multi stakeholders on effective implementation of POCSO Act on 25th August, 2023 at their premises.
The consultation was attended by 50 participants comprising Chairperson/Members of Child Welfare Committees, DCPOs, Superintendents of Child Care Institutions and Counsellors of DCPUs from all States/UTs of the Country.
Sh. Abhinav Pandey, Secretary (Litigation), DSLSA was nominated to lead the session in the said meet on the topic “Provision of compensation under various schemes and laws to children affected with sexual violence”. He apprised the participants about the provisions of compensation for POCSO victims and practical issues to be resolved by all the stakeholders. At the end all the queries raised by the participants were resolved.

“Attachment of IAS Officers Trainees with DSLSA
Delhi State Legal Services Authority organized training/orientation programme for IAS Officers Trainees nominated by the Department of Law, Justice & Legislative Affairs, GNCT of Delhi as a part of exposure tour and to acquire knowledge about the working of DSLSA, as per their training curriculum.
Sh. Naveen Gupta, Special Secretary, DSLSA apprised them about the provisions of Free Legal Aid as envisaged in Legal Services Authority Act, 1987 with the help of PPT for an effective understanding. Sh. Mridul Gupta, Additional Secretary, DSLSA interacted with Officers and made them aware about the functioning of DSLSA/DLSAs, 24*7 toll-free helpline number and differenct schemes provided by this Authority. Sh. Abhinav Pandey, Secretary (Litigation), DSLSA apprised the officers about the functioning of Delhi Victim Compensation Scheme.
During their visit, they were accompanied by Ms. Jyoti Maheshwari, Secretary, Central-II to oversee the working of DLSA, Nyay Sanyog office, Vulnerable Witness Room and Mediation Centre in Rouse Avenue District Courts, New Delhi.”

On Day 3 of the said PLV Training the first session was delivered by Sh. Vikas Chandwani, Soft Skill Trainer and Coach on the topic “Effective Communication and Interpersonal Skill”. He explained the topic with the help of PPT.
Thereafter, Ms. Jhanvi Jain, Counsellor, SPYM delivered the session on the topic “Drug Abuse and Eradication of Drug Menace”. PPT was also shown to elaborate the topic.
The concluding remarks in the said PLV Training were delivered by Sh. Manish Jain, Secretary, North West DLSA. At the end all the queries raised by the participants were resolved by the respective Resource Persons.”

Sh. Abhinav Pandey, Secretary (Litigation), DSLSA delivered the session on the topic “Rights & duties of Prisoners including Parole, Furlough & remission, Schemes of DSLSA for welfare of Prisoners including Schemes for Financial Sustenance, Education & Welfare of Children of incarcerated Parents, 2014”.
At the end all the queries raised by the participants were resolved by the respective Resource Persons.”

DSLSA organized three days Para Legal Volunteer (PLV) Training from 21st to 23rd August 2023 for Jail inmates of Tihar, Mandoli and Rohini jails at Jail No.2, Tihar Jail.
On first day i,e. 21.08.2023, the said PLV training was inaugurated in the august presence of Sh. Mukesh Kumar Gupta, Member Secretary, DSLSA, Sh. Naveen Gupta, Special Secretary, DSLSA, Sh. Mridul Gupta, Additional Secretary, DSLSA and Sh. H.P. S. Sran, Addl. I. G (Prisons), Tihar Jails, Delhi.
Sh. Mukesh Kumar Gupta, Member Secretary, DSLSA delivered the session on the topic “Introduction to Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987 and Roles & Duties of Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs).
Thereafter, Sh. Naveen Gupta, Special Secretary, DSLSA delivered the session on the topic “Overview of Criminal Justice”.
