The Delhi State Legal Services Authority (DSLSA), established under the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987, strives to ensure access to justice for all, particularly marginalized and weaker sections of society. It provides free and competent legal services to individuals who may face barriers to justice due to financial constraints or other disabilities. DSLSA, along with District Legal Services Authorities (DLSAs), is committed to protecting the legal rights of both accused persons and victims. Legal aid for accused persons is delivered through the Legal Aid Defense Counsel System and district-level panels of advocates. Victims are provided rehabilitation through financial support under the Delhi Victims Compensation Scheme, 2018, along with free and competent legal services, if required. Additionally, DSLSA promotes speedy and amicable dispute resolution by organizing Lok Adalats and pre-litigation mediation, thereby reducing the pendency of cases in courts. DSLSA also spreads information about rights, schemes, policies, and initiatives to enhance public awareness.
Hon’ble Mr. Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya, Chief Justice, High Court of Delhi, is the Patron-in-Chief of DSLSA.
